We believe that integrating Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) criteria into our corporate and portfolio management practices enhances our ability to create value for our investors while identifying and mitigating material investment risks.

Bow River Captial’s ESG Committee is charged with developing and executing Bow River Capital’s ESG Policy, which focuses on three pillars: Sustainability, People and Governance.

ESG Pillars

#1: Sustainability

We believe that by focusing on sustainability, we will create a more energy efficient, and ultimately, a more valuable portfolio of assets.

#2: People

We recognize that at Bow River Capital – and within our portfolio companies – our people are our greatest asset, and we have a responsibility to make our community stronger by giving back to those who need assistance.

Our People Pillar focuses on creating a more diverse culture at Bow River Capital and partnering with nonprofits that make a difference in our community.

We established the Bow River Capital ESG Advisory Board to provide guidance to the firm’s executives on important issues, including our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion efforts.

Above all, Bow River Capital is charged with being responsible stewards of our investors’ capital. To that end, we identify and mitigate material risks at both the corporate and fund level, and we support and advance good governance policies as part of our investment process. We incorporate the key pillars of governance into our investment process and communicate clearly and transparently with our investors.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Partnerships

We’ve entered into several partnerships with local and national organizations to assist our efforts in recruiting more diverse candidates for both our summer internship program and full-time roles.

Activate Workforce Solutions operates in Bow River Capital’s hometown of Denver; its mission is to activate low-income individuals into their inherent potential through the dignity of work. Its sister company, ActivateIT is a recruiting, IT training, and coaching organization that focuses on professional and interpersonal development to enable our students to succeed in IT careers and achieve economic freedom.

Colorado Inclusive Economy

Bow River Capital is a founding member of Colorado Inclusive Economy, a campaign launched during the COVID-19 pandemic to address the disproportionate economic impact that the pandemic and recession has had on people of color and frontline American workers. Inclusive Economy is a collection of CEOs and business leaders who are dedicated to rebuilding Colorado’s economy in a way that works for all.

Bow River is excited to parther with Arrupe Jesuit High School to support their Corporate Work Study Program. 

Arrupe Jesuit High School, located in Denver, CO , makes college preparatory education an attainable goal for families who otherwise could not provide it. The school serves 426 students from 49 zip codes and 94 feeder schools. Seventy-eight percent of Arrupe’s students qualify for federal free and reduced lunch.
 
Arrupe’s unique Corporate Work Study Program allows students to pursue their educational dreams while learning about the corporate community where they will one day work. This unique approach to schooling sets Arrupe’s students apart.
 
Of the last 15 graduating classes, 100% were accepted into a least one college or university of their choice.

Bow River is a signatory of ILPA’s Diversity in Action initiative. The initiative brings together limited partners and general partners who share a commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in the private equity industry. The goal of the initiative is to motivate market participants to engage in the journey towards becoming more diverse and inclusive and to build momentum around the adoption of specific actions that advance DEI over time.
 

Bow River in the Community

We are committed to making a difference in underserved communities in Colorado and beyond. Every two years, our team selects a nonprofit that we support financially and with volunteer hours.

In the first quarter of 2021, Bow River Capital employees selected Food for Thought as our corporate nonprofit partner for the next two years.

Food for Thought

Food for Thought Denver remains a 100% volunteer organization which strives to eliminate weekend hunger — servicing 53 schools in the Denver area and reaching more than 3,000 school children.
